Annotate a Literary Text

In this project, students discover in detail the historical factors associated with a short piece of writing by annotating it.  Students are asked to chose two short pieces of text from a list including works not on the syllabus.  They have to determine and insert the kinds of knowledge that the text presumes but might not be accessible to the reader.  They have to create headnotes and a few sentences introducing the reading.  The final product is a 5-7 page paper.
