Credit Score Opener

In EC970, Household and Consumer Finance, Robert Turley started class with a real-life activity - an examination of an actual credit score.

During the session on credit scores, Robert shared his own credit score with the students prior to discussing the papers they had read for the session.  He found that this was a great way to get the basics of credit scores down. Then the students began discussing the papers for the day, which included a study by the Federal Reserve which looks at how credit scores are biased by gender or race and a Brookings' study on credit scores and mortgages.

Robert often engaged the students with real-life objects in order to solidify their understanding of the fundamental course concepts.

Below are the two readings and Robert's lesson plan.
