This Family Feud-style discussion structure forces students to be be quick on their feet during section as they engage the material. Section begins with a brief lecture or story pertaining to the subject matter. Then the game show discussion begins: Students are asked open format questions on powerpoint slides that have mostly short answers. The quickest student is called on, he or she answers the question, and then the actual answer is revealed. The instructor records the quality of the response with a check, check minus, or check plus. The instructor keeps students up to date on how frequently and well they are participating and meets with them mid-semester.
