Should marines have killed the goat herder in Afghanistan? After reading Walzer's Just and Unjust War, students debate the morality of war. In this activity, students are asked whether they consider themselves a hawk or a dove. They are then asked to defend the opposite position in a debate. This activity forces students to consider how we think about the principles underlying actions or the consequences of actions as well, and how/whether war changes this. The instructions are in "Resources."
