How do committees reach decisions, and if we know what members of a committee want can we predict the outcome? In this activity students are assigned "ideal points" in a two dimensional space. Everyone prefers an outcome that is closer to their ideal point than others. Then students make proposals through their computers and vote on proposals. Different variations of the task include different variations of ideal points and whether or not the ideal points of others, and the proposer, are known. Interaction takes place through student laptops using the EconVision system.
