Family of Man Exhibition Evaluation

For one unit in Robin Kelsey's course, "Seeing is Believing: A History of Photography," students read about the 1955 Family of Man exhibition and discuss it with the class. During class, the students are broken into groups to debate the merits and shortcomings of the exhibition. They reflect on the points raised after the debate ends. The purpose of the activity is to deepen the understanding of the exhibition and the political and aesthetic issues it raised. Make sure to maintain a collegial and supportive atmosphere but also encourage debate.
