Sweden is known for its children's literature. In this lesson, Ursula Lindqvist and Suzanne Martin use a famous Swedish children's book to teach both grammar and provide a taste of Swedish childhood. Barbro Lindgren, one particularly famous children's book, contains many helping verbs. In class, Ursula and Suzanne read the book to students and discuss the use of helping verbs in with the students. This provides an opportunity to expose students to real-life usage to these structures in Swedish literature that they can access early on. It also allows them to gain a glimpse of Swedish culture.
